PostHeaderIcon Oma's 80th Birthday Party

This passed weekend all but 2 people in the Quigley clan of NH converged on Kentucky to celebrate Oma's 80th Birhday.  (Thanks mostly to Aunt Kathy and Uncle Randy) I was glad to have met and re-met (if thats a word) everyone there.  For some of us it had been 20+ years since the last time we got together.  We came from all over the country, California, Florida, New Hampshire, and all points Mid-West.  Through some minor miracle, Oma didn't find out about it at all.  Kathy and Randy had it all figured out and no one led on.  Camp Carlson was perfect, and the lodge was excellent.  There had been some hinting around that we should get together every 2 years.  I'd be on board with that.

I came away somewhat recharged and I don't think I can articulate that at this point, I still need to chew on it for a while.  I think for me, parts of my family have been a mystery.  Rediscovering my family has solidified my past and gave me  A sense of well being that didn't evaporate on the trip home.  I also came away with the sense that everyone is doing well, not just on the surface, but actually doing well.  I'd heard comments from various people on how there was no jail time served.  (strange yardstick, but relavent in a weird sorta way.) It was a great weekend and I'm looking forward to the next gathering.
