We've had a busy couple of weeks welcoming Ryan home and getting settled in. (There are some pictures in the picture gallery...) He was born on July 26th at 6:02 AM; he was 8 pounds even, and measured in at 21 inches. We had a great experience at the Elliot hospital in Manchester. Props to all the nurses there in the delivery/maternity areas, they were all great. The delivery was quiet and peaceful. Diane did a great job through the whole thing. She was up and about the next day with no pain medication at all. One of the nurses thought that she was afraid to ask for pain medication, but in reality she didn't feel like she needed it. For the most part, Ryan stayed in the room with us the entire time except for the first night. We were still on an all-nighter at the time, and needed the rest. They brought him in every couple of hours for feeding. All in all, everyone at the hospital was great and we (I should say Diane...) sent along a note to them to thank them.

We brought him home on Monday afternoon (July 28th)...

without much fanfare.
Diane did a great job picking out everything that we have for him, so we were ready to go. So far he's a fairly easy baby once we got to know how to read him a little better. We confused about his eating schedule and bedtime rituals, we don't have them nailed down quite yet, but we're working on it. He wants to eat constantly, and we didn't realize it so he was a little fussy. Diane went to see a lactation consultant, and she said,”if he's rooting, feed em..." yesterday, it seems he did nothing but eat. He's been eating in marathon sittings, resting for 10 minutes, and is back on.. We're still trying to figure out if its just part of a growth spurt,(timing's right for it) or maybe he's not getting enough, or if he's just going to eat like this all the time. All in all we're settling in fairly well, with all the usual uncertainties, random sprinklings and small joys.
